This three-handed show was inspired by the Cornish story of ‘The Changeling of Brea Vean’, in which the child of a neglectful mother is exchanged for a spriggan changeling. We had the idea of combining this story with that of two of the most famously neglectful parents in the world – Punch and Judy! Various Punch and Judy motifs could then be included in the story, so in our version, Punch and Judy’s baby was exchanged for a crocodile…

            When the drunken pair finally realise that the crocodile is not actually their child, they seek help from Judy’s mother, who sends them off on a journey into the underworld to retrieve their offspring. This journey becomes one of self-discovery, as their ridiculous adventure into a strange hell of their own making helps them learn invaluable lessons about themselves, their relationships with each other and the way they treat their child.
